Live Notes is a lecture note-taking tool. This page explains what information the app handles and how, in plain terms.
No account, no sign-up
Live Notes doesn't require an account, login, name, or email address to use.
What's stored on your device
Your lecture titles, transcripts, and AI-generated notes are stored only in your browser's local storage. Saved audio recordings (if you use the "Save Audio" feature) are stored only in your browser's local database. None of this is uploaded to or stored on our servers. If you clear your browser's site data, this information is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
What gets sent elsewhere, and why
While you're recording, short audio clips are sent to our server and then to third-party AI providers so the app can generate a transcript and notes:
- Groq processes audio to produce a text transcript.
- OpenAI processes transcript text to produce a summary and key points.
Audio and transcript text are sent to these providers only to generate that response, and are not stored on our own server afterward. Each provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle data sent to their API — see Groq's privacy policy and OpenAI's privacy policy for details.
Advertising
This site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more, or opt out of personalized advertising, at Google's Ads Settings, and read more generally at How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
Cookies
Live Notes itself does not use cookies. If ads are shown on this page, Google's ad service may set its own cookies as described above.
Children's privacy
Live Notes is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change too.
